Following the success of last years Youth Tour of Scotland, British Cycling Yorkshire will once again be entering a team into the event. The team will comprise of 4 boys and 4 girls from Youth A. We will also nominate a non travelling reserve for both the boys and girls teams. The event takes place between the 6th and 9th of April.
The Youth Tour of Scotland is a residential stage race, taking place in the beautiful Perthshire countryside. This four day event welcomes youth teams from across the UK and further afield to compete across four stages to gain the top position and sought after jerseys in general classification, points, king and queen of the mountains, team and Scottish rider competitions.
The event provides opportunities for young riders to compete as a team, whilst representing their region within a professional environment. There are 20 team places available in both the boys and girls competition. The event also includes road races on fully closed roads, the only youth event in the country to do this.
The region will appoint a team manager and coach for the event. Entry fees, accommodation, meals and transport costs will be covered by British Cycling Yorkshire.
As this is an early season event, its not easy to select the team as we won’t have any racing to look at before the event. This means selection will be based on winter training sessions at Richard Dunn (Wednesday evenings, 6.30-8.30). Any riders who cannot attend the Richard Dunn sessions due to living too far away etc but who want to be considered for selection should get in touch with Ian O’Brien.
If you are interested in being part of the team, please get in touch with Ian O’Brien:
