The Ryedale Grand Prix – Sunday 6th August 2017

First promoted by British Cycling’s Yorkshire Region in 2005 the Ryedale Grand Prix has featured as the National Road Race Championship in 2005, 2008 and in 2012. For 2017 it returns as part of the the British Cycling Elite Road Series and will once again incorporate the Peter Longbottom Memorial in dedication to the Malton Olympian. Sharing the day will be the Women’s National Road Series starting at 9:30am.

In 2013 the event moved to Ampleforth Abbey, since when the magnificent grounds have played host to some thrilling racing, across a landscape that’s provided iconic photos and lasting memories. To enhance the spectator experience Ampleforth Abbey are looking to introduce this year a Made in Ryedale showcase of crafts and wares in the area adjacent to the finish to create a spectator hub for the day in addition to the usual Abbey attractions.

Since the first edition of the event the promotion has benefitted from the generous sponsorship of Grass Concrete Limited featuring their Worldwide and unique Grasscrete environmental paving system. They return again along with Event Partners and sponsors Ryedale District Council who each year have stepped up to support the race. Once again their support extends into providing visitor opportunities to this magnificent part of Yorkshire, why not make a weekend of it in Ryedale you won’t be disappointed.
